Masquerade, originally uploaded by Annelogue.

I’ve always wondered about the thrill of a masquerade. Not being completely in disguise, but sufficiently unrecognizable. Is the intention only to spark different interaction mechanisms into play? To increase the mystery? When is it time to keep your mask on and when can you take it off? I like masks, because I know they are just masks and I accept the game for what it is. Then if someone decides to take their mask off completely and too soon, I can’t help feeling sad and disappointed. I thought the game was to wear the masks. Am I expected to take my mask off as well, just because someone else did? What if I still want to keep my mask on? I like my mask, I think I’ll keep it on for a while.
