My new computer! Dirt cheap, too. Apparently, it’s a good thing to buy a computer from Dell towards the end of every quarter, because they want to bring in the cash and therefore bring on amazing deals. Also I guess they are on the brink with some new models with autumn coming up, so that’s why even broke ass me can afford a brand new piece of machine. Rough specs are: 500G HD, 2MB RAM, Intel® ViivT Teknologi Intel® Pentium® D Processor 930 (3.0GHz, 2x2MB L2 Cache, 800FSB), and Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005. Yay! So, I expect it sometime next week. So don’t worry if I seem like I’m gone from the face of the earth, I anticipate that I’ll go into nerdy mode for a couple of days to set everything up.

  1. I got the new machine delivered on my door last night and everything is going very well! It’s just like when you move into a new apartment and you are putting all your furniture in place, now I’m firstly installing all the programs that I like to use, so that my everyday needs are met. Then I need to figure out what I need to buy in order to have two machines on one monitor, one keyboard and one mouse. Then I need to find out what TV tuner card I need to get to start playing with the Microsoft Media Center that came with the machine. I left that out for now on purpose, because I wanted to do some more research on what solution I want to have. I also want to get some bigger speakers, so I need to figure out how that fits into the whole entertainment solution. It’s all good! Thanks for asking ;-)!

  2. He he. I know the feeling. I kinda like setting up shop when I get new hardware. It usually takes awfully long time to get to the point when everything works as I want it to. But I must admit I enjoy myself doing it.
You need a KVM switch, but you probably knew that already.
